Environmental News: U3A is one of 12 community groups in Berwick who have agreed to sign/take the Plastic Free Pledge. The Plastic Free Berwick-upon-Tweed campaign aims to free where we live from single- use plastics. Together, we are tackling avoidable, throwaway plastic, from our beaches, rivers and green spaces. It is part of a national network organised by Surfers Against Sewage. There are now enough Berwick community groups, businesses and schools to be registered with SAS, so thanks to U3A for supporting the campaign locally. This campaign is a partnership between Sea the Change, Surfers Against Sewage and Greener Berwick.

The Tweed & Coast Nature Trail (a Berwick u3a initiative, and regularly maintained by some of our members), is a popular local walk in which all the family can find something of interest. You can find details of the walk here and, as a taster, here’s a short film about it.
